Covers the following war: World War II (WWII). Contains photographs of the following military units: German Army, German Navy, German Air Force, etc. General description of the collection: The Walter S. Wood photograph collection consists of a sizable collection, all dealing with Nazi Germany during the World War II era, as was collected by Walter S. Wood. The material is comprised of a visual presentation of Nazi Germany and the German armed forces on all fronts, at sea, and in the air in a variety of media. There are many propaganda-type photographs as well as the personal candid photo that would have been taken unofficially. Numerous art prints depict the German Army and Germany at war and on the home front. Other art prints show art and sculpture created by German artists. There are several cigarette albums as well as much material cut out of magazines and other published media. There are numerous color photograveur oversized images. Among the photos are numerous official portrait photos of German military leaders with title captions in the German language. Most of the collection is either in the German or French language, nothing has been translated into English. There is a book with tipped-in photographs titled, ADOLF HITLER, BILDE, AUS DEM LEBEN DES FUHRERS. There is a great quantity of photos and other illustrative material on the Eastern Front and the invasion of Russia.
